Qualified signature

Qualified signature

Qualified signature is a type of electronic signature that meets specific requirements set out in European Union legislation, in particular the eIDAS Regulation (Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 July 2014 on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market). Such a signature has equivalent legal force to a traditional written signature and is widely accepted for various types of electronic transactions, including contacts with public administration. A qualified signature provides: authenticity - assurance of the identity of the signatory; integrity - assurance that the document has not been altered since it was signed; and non-repudiation - the signatory cannot deny the fact that the document was signed.
