What about this tax?

In Poland, as in any other country, we have to deal with various types of taxes, which also affect the way you settle your accounts. According to the letter of the law, a tax is "a public, unpaid, compulsory and non-refundable monetary benefit for the benefit of the State Treasury, a province, a district or a municipality, resulting from a tax act."

It is clear from this rule that every person with an income has to deal with taxes. People without income also have to deal with them, for example in the form of VAT on the goods and services they purchase. Taxes are therefore an integral part of our lives and it is worth knowing a little about them. Especially when they affect our accounts.

Types of tax

At the moment, there are 13 types of taxes in Poland and they are divided into direct and indirect taxes.

Direct taxes include:
personal income tax (PIT),
corporate income tax (CIT),
inheritance and gift tax,
tax on civil law transactions,
agricultural tax,
forestry tax,
property tax,
tax on means of transport,
tonnage tax,
tax on the extraction of certain minerals.

Indirect taxes are:
value added tax (VAT),
excise duty,
Gaming tax.

Tax scale

You can easily calculate the amount of income due on your tax, provided that this income is subject to a tax scale. Tax card or registered income, for example, are governed by different rules.

At the moment, there are two bases for calculating tax. If you have an annual income of less than £85,528, you take the 18% calculation base minus the amount of £556 02 gr. If, on the other hand, your income exceeded PLN 85,528, your tax will be PLN 14,839 02 gr and you must add to it 32% of the excess over PLN 85,528.

These calculations are important for those who are covered by the Personal Income Tax Act.
